Switch!
Switch! is a super fun segment from my beatboxing assembly, Outside the Box: Beatboxing with Mr. Max. A student (or teacher, depending on the age group of the audience) is selected to be the DJ. Normally a DJ would “spin” (caution: most kids don’t know what vinyl is any more!!!) their music. But in Switch!, the DJ controls the beatboxer. There are three controls available: volume fader, pitch knob, and beat changer (the DJ can select from four beats).
This game is rich with musical concepts, and students get to witness the application of Elements of Music (such as dynamics) in real time! Check out the video below:
